MHR Products is built by someone who needed it.

The HR resources I needed didn't exist, so I built them.

Founder — Madison Beavin

Hi, I'm Madison.

I built MHR Products because I lived the problem it solves.

I'm currently completing a Master's in Human Resources Management with an emphasis on Organizational Development, building on a Bachelor's in Psychology (Human Health) from UC San Diego. I work as the HR Manager at a California investment firm overseeing nine separate legal entities — covering employee onboarding, compliance, policies, terminations, and everything that falls between.

Nine entities meant nine times the exposure to California employment law in practice — what works, what breaks, where compliance traps live, and what small business HR actually looks like day-to-day. That's the perspective behind every template in this library.

California First

Every template is built specifically for the state it serves — not adapted from generic national content. We're starting with California because it's where I work and where the law is most distinct.

Expanding State by State

State-by-state compliance, starting with California. Additional states are on the roadmap, with each expansion built to the same standard of jurisdiction-specific depth.

The Story

Why this exists.

The problem I saw

When I started cleaning up HR compliance across multiple companies, I needed templates and procedures fast. What I found was either generic content written for any business in any state — and therefore useful for none — or expensive consulting engagements that built one document at a time. Neither approach worked for businesses moving quickly.

The realization

California's employment law is unusually specific. Generic templates don't account for our state's overtime rules, meal and rest period requirements, paid sick leave structures, anti-retaliation provisions, or the dozens of nuances that make California different from anywhere else. Small businesses in California are essentially flying blind unless they hire a $400-an-hour attorney or buy a generic template library that misses what matters.

What I built

MHR Products is the resource I wish I'd had. State-by-state compliance, starting with California — HR templates organized by company size, kept current as laws change, with the context to explain why each document matters, not just how to fill it out.

Why now, why this way

Most HR tools are built for large companies with full HR departments. MHR Products is for the operator handling HR alongside everything else: the office manager who got pulled into compliance, the founder doing it themselves, the small HR team without legal counsel on speed dial. The people I built this for are the people I worked alongside.

What We Believe

The principles that guide every template we build.

Specificity over generality

California law is California law. Templates that work in Texas don't work here, and pretending otherwise gets businesses in trouble. Every state we serve will be treated the same way.

Context over content

Knowing what a policy says matters less than knowing why it says it. Our templates explain the reasoning, not just the language.

Affordability over exclusivity

Compliance shouldn't be reserved for businesses that can afford $400-an-hour counsel. Quality state-specific HR resources should be accessible.

Honesty over polish

We're a new company built by someone living the problem we solve. We're not pretending to be a fifty-person firm with decades of history. We are what we are, and we believe what we offer is genuinely valuable.

Expertise

Built on a foundation of psychology and organizational science.

What MHR Products is not.

We want to make sure we're the right fit before you subscribe.

Not legal advice.

Our templates are starting points, but they're not substitutes for an attorney who knows your specific situation.

Not a one-size-fits-all solution.

No template library can replace careful customization for your business. We give you a strong foundation; you apply judgment.

Not a substitute for HR expertise.

If your business is complex, you may still need a full HR consultant. We complement that work; we don't replace it.

Built for businesses that take HR seriously.
